Double F1600 podium at Watkins Glen

Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing F1600 team and driver Ryan Leach finished the 2011 F1600 Formula F Championship season with two second-place finishes at  Watkins Glen International, October 15-16.

Driving the No. 16 Honda Spectrum, Leach matched his best finish of the season with his performance at the historic 3.4-mile road course.

“It was a great weekend for us, the car was very quick, and I was able to pass almost anywhere,” Leach said. “I had a mishap in qualifying which led to an eighth place starting position on the grid for race 1. However, by Lap 2, I was already up to second, and Wyatt (Gooden) and I had a great battle for the lead for most of the race.”

Race wins for Spectrum across three states

A maiden round win for one young driver and personal best performances for a number of others have marked a successful Armor All Gold Coast 600 event for Spectrum Racing Cars.

The 2.96km concrete canyon on the streets of Surfers Paradise served up some exciting and at times bruising racing for the penultimate round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship, with 17-year old Queenslander Liam Sager surviving the battle to record his first ever national level race win.

Major changes for 2012 Spectrum

While two rounds of this year's Australian Formula Ford Championship are still to be contested, Borland Racing Developments has already commenced construction of a totally new car for the 2012 season.  Dubbed the 'game changer', the new Spectrum 014 will incorporate numerous changes into it's design, including the use of chrome-moly tubing as the base material for the spaceframe chassis.

Reynolds and Sabre Win in West

Daniel Reynolds ensured that his family’s trek from their hometown of Canberra across the continent to Perth, some 4000 kms away, was worth the effort when he convincingly won the CAMS Formula Vee National title last weekend, driving the Vintage Vee Dub Supplies Sabre 02.

Norton rates Spectrum "Best Ride at the Carnival!"

Ben Norton has dominated the 2011 Castle Combe Formula Ford 1600 Carnival last weekend, qualifying the Wiltshire Motorsport College Spectrum 011 in pole position and setting the fastest lap on the way to a comfortable race victory. In the ultra competitive Formula Ford 1600 category, Norton claimed pole by over half a second, which is as close as his competitors got to him all day. His race pace was half a second a lap faster than his rivals and he cruised to a seven second win in the 15 lap race.
