Spectrum and Sabre 2019

2019 has been an outstanding year for Spectrum and Sabre.

With Olivier Bedard behind the wheel of a Spectrum F1600, he and the Exclusive Autosport team claimed three championship titles in Canada: the F1600 Canada Series, the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and the Formula F1600 Canada Super Series.

Over in the UK, Jordan Dempsey triumphed in the Walter Hayes Trophy Final with Kevin Mills Racing. This made for the third Walter Hayes Trophy in a row going to Kevin Mills Racing. Winning the two previous back to back years was Michael Moyers, who was also seen on the podium next to Dempsey this year.

The New Zealand Formula Ford Winter Series finished with Spectrums filling the podium. Claiming pole position and all 3 race wins for the last round, Billy Frazer concluded the series with the winner’s laurel. Callum Crawley took second place and Ronan Murphy made it to third. Earlier this year, Callum Crawley was awarded the respected Morrie Smith Memorial Trophy.

Back in Australia, 17 year old Ben D’Alia earned first place in the Victorian Formula Ford Championship in his family supported and run Spectrum 014. Closely following Ben D’Alia was fellow Spectrum driver Ben Bargwanna, who finished his first year in the Vic FF Championship with a well-deserved second place.

Tim Hamilton secured the win in the Australian FF1600 Championship and, for the third successive year, the Queensland State Championship, while Brendan Jones collected his fifth Victorian FF1600 win in a row. Peter Fitzgerald and Doug Williams filled the rest of the Victorian FF1600 Championship podium, resulting in a clean sweep for Spectrum

Promising young driver Cody Burcher picked up his first national win, eight podiums and six fastest laps during his rookie year in the Australian Formula Ford Championship.

Jake Rowe and Heath Collinson took first and second place, in the Victorian Formula Vee Championship, marking the 10th consecutive championship title for Sabre.

Also in Sabres around Australia, Adam Newton drove to victory in the South Australian Formula Vee 1600 Championship; Garry Hook, in his second year in a Vee, placed first in the Queensland Formula Vee Series and Rod Lisson headed the Western Australia point score to win the WA State Formula Vee 1600 Championship.

On the strength of a solid 2018, we welcome newcomers to the Spectrum family for 2020! Amongst other new, young drivers are Jordyn Sinni and Jude Bargwanna.
