Spectrum’s Canadian distributor, Exclusive Autosport, has enjoyed a successful weekend in two separate open-wheel series, winning races in both the F1600 Canada and Toyo Tires F1600 Championship on the weekend.
Matthew Taskinen competed in Round 3 of the F1600 Canada at the undulating Mont Tremlant circuit; after qualifying on pole position in wet weather conditions, he notched up finishes of first, third and second in the three races.
The sixth round of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship was held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, with Kellen Ritter and Spike Kohlbecker driving their Honda-powered Spectrums.
Kohlbecker qualified on pole while Ritter was second on the grid; in the races, it was Ritter who prevailed, taking a clean sweep with three wins from three races. Kohlbecker finished second in the first race before mechanical problems ruled him out of the second; he made up for it with a stunning charge from the back of the grid to fourth in Race 3.
Ritter’s clean sweep has catapulted him into the points lead, ahead of the next round at Circuit Trois-Rivieres on 11-12 August.
