FENECH EARNS SPECTRUM FACTORY BONUS
To congratulate Jesse Fenech on winning the 2009 Victorian State FF1600 Championship in a Spectrum 010b, Borland Racing Developments has made available to him one of their Fiesta powered Spectrum 011 cars for the Island Magic race on 21-22 November. Jesse won the Victorian title driving Luke Ellery’s Spectrum 010b, the car in which Luke won the six round 2008 Victorian State Series.
John Ellery (Luke’s father) maintained and ran the Spectrum 010b for Jesse during this year and, keeping the ties with the Ellery family, Jesse will use the Spectrum 011c from Luke’s 2009 AFFC campaign. John will again oversee the spanner duties for the Island Magic, with support from the Borland Racing Developments crew.
“We’re very pleased to be able to give Jesse an opportunity to run a Fiesta powered Spectrum at Phillip Island,” said BRD’s Mike Borland. “One of the more rewarding aspects of our business is the chance to assist young drivers, engineers and mechanics in their careers. Jesse thoroughly deserves this chance and I’m sure he will make the most of it,” he added.
Jesse has had a stellar debut season in FF1600, scoring 8 wins and 2 second places from 11 starts. Add to that 4 out of 4 pole positions and you can see why the factory wanted to recognise his efforts with the use of a National specification Spectrum for Island Magic! The BRD team congratulates Jesse on an outstanding year of racing and wishes him success in his future motor racing endeavours.
