On the back of his maiden Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship round win at Phillip Island last weekend, young Queenslander Chaz Mostert has revealed his racing plans for next year. Chaz will be staying with Justin Cotter’s Sydney based Synergy Motorsport team, with his eye firmly on securing the 2010 Formula Ford title.

“It is fantastic to get the race win and my first round win,” Chaz said. “I would like to thank my Dad and all of my sponsors who have supported me. I’d also like to thank Justin who has taught me so much about racing and been patient with me when I haven’t listened! Next year I intend to have the Factory Enterprises Spectrum on the top spot a lot more often,” he added.

Team owner Justin Cotter was very pleased to have the speedster back for next year. “Chaz has a ton of natural talent and pace and it is fantastic that he has decided to run with us next year,” said Cotter. “It’s always a challenge to harness that with a young driver, but we are getting there. It hasn’t been the easiest year for Chaz on a number of fronts, so it is a real credit to him to have come through with the win at the weekend,” he explained. “A lot of the young guys see what John Martin did in coming into Formula Ford and driving his Spectrum to win the National Championship in his first try, but they have to remember that he is one of a very small number to do that. Nick Percat has set a good example this year in showing that you have to just keep coming back until you put it together,” Cotter added.
