MOSTERT TAKES MAXIMUM POINTS IN MELBOURNE

Having topped the timesheets in both practise and qualifying, Chaz Mostert went on to secure a comfortable victory in the opening race of the season at Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit. Driving the Synergy Motorsport prepared Spectrum 012, Mostert cruised to the win, lowering the lap record by some seven tenths of a second in the process.

By mid race distance, Chaz had built a seemingly unassailable lead and was able to ease off. A safety car period bunched the field, taking away the lead he had built up, but in only a couple of racing laps, Chaz lowered his own lap record from earlier in the race and still won by a comfortable margin.

“What a great start to the season,” said an elated Mostert. “The new Spectrum was awesome out there today. It is so easy to get the speed from the car, it just doesn’t drop away. Even late in the race, I was able to simply push a little harder and break away on the restart,” he added.
