His most successful year in karts was 2014 when he was crowned the KF-3 Australian Champion and his Pro-Tour Junior Max Series win led into participating in the Australian Team in Valencia, Spain. In 2015 he decided it was time to make another step towards his dream of racing in Indy car, so he joined Borland Racing Developments and started his career in Formula Ford in the Victorian State Series. Having spent his entire life surrounded by two fathers who were both champion drivers, along with the family automotive businesses, there was never any doubt that Brendan would race one day. Thanks to the generous support of his stepfather Brian Sampson, Brendan entered his first meeting at Winton in 1991 aboard a Cheetah Mk5 open-wheeler powered by a Toyota Corolla engine. The scene was set that weekend and some 25 years and 300 plus races later Brendan is now one of the "old grey headed blokes" still competing. During those years. Brendan considers himself fortunate to have driven such a variety of vehicles including Cheetah, Elva, Lola, Palliser, Ralt, Reynard, Van Diemen and Spectrum. A major part of his career has been associated with Borland Racing Developments from first driving a Sabre 01 Formula Vee in 1993 to the Spectrum 011 Formula Ford he is currently running.
