Spectrums dominate Victorian series
Spectrum chassis dominated the opening round of the Victorian State Formula Ford Championship held recently at Winton Motor Raceway.
Qualifying saw Synergy Motorsport’s Trent Grubel pilot his Spectrum 011b to pole position ahead of his team mate Ash Quiddington’s Spectrum 012. The second row was also an all Spectrum affair, with the BRD pair of James Golding (Spectrum 014) and Tom Grech (Spectrum 011c) qualifying in 3rd and 4th respectively.
Racing saw the Spectrums untouchable as they clean swept the three Victorian Championship races. Rookie Golding won the opening encounter, his first ever Formula Ford race, with the fastest lap, closely followed by Quiddington, Grech and Grubel. Quiddington broke through for his debut victory, winning races two and three, whilst Golding and Grech were solid in 2nd and 3rd.
Quiddington won the round from Golding in 2nd. Spectrum chassis qualified in the top four positions, scored three wins, two 2nds, three 3rds and had the fastest lap in every race!
In 2012, Spectrum Formula Ford chassis were victorious in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the USA, including the prestigious Walter Hayes Trophy meeting at Silverstone Raceway.
